During this week we got to start our fetal pig dissections and since the beginning of the year I really have been looking forward to getting to do this. On the second day of the the dissection we got to look at the Circulatory system, where I got to hold the heart and I thought that it was really cool. There was something about holding the heart that made me appreciate science so much more. I realized that there were so many similarities between the pig heart and the human heart. We also realized that not everything gives you the same results, there are different challenges along the way that you have to figure out and problem solve. In our pig’s heart there was a lot of tissue that other groups heart didn't have, so we had to quickly learn whether we had to cut it or not. I thought that I was going to be grossed out because when I was younger most of my friends didn’t really like doing things like this, and couldn't stand the sight of blood. But for me it was different, I liked getting to see why things were going on, and I’m still curious about how things work. Getting to cut the heart out of the pig exposed me to something that I hopefully get to do for the rest of my life.
