House on mango street
By Sandra Cisneros
The House On Mango is consists of 44 short character stories, called vignettes. They are narrated by Esperanza, a 12 year old girl at the start of the novel, who just moved with her family to Mango Street, in the barrio. Esperanza hates their house on Mango Street but she grows up with the other women on the street as her role models. I liked the House on Mango Street because it was a lot of fun to read the different vignettes and read like a different story each time. |
Book Club Critique
This semester for my book club I go to read, The Kite Runner and Dear Zoe, .
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini I liked the book The Kite Runner because it is a book that was recommended to me by my dad, and it was something different then what I normally read. It was about a boy who recalls an event that happened when he was living in Afghanistan with his father, that made him the man that he is now. There were a few parts that were a bit strong but, it was something that made the story eye-opening. Dear Zoe, by Philip Beard Dear Zoe is written as a letter from fifth-teen year old Tess about the death of her step-sister. Her family struggles with dealing with the death each member having their own way of doing so. For Tess its to move back with her real fathers house. Being there she takes care of her self and falls in love. I liked the book because Tess is my age and that made the book pretty relatable in some parts. |

Books I Want to reAD
1. Go Ask Alice by Anonymous
I want to read this book because a lot of people in my class have recommended it to me and its about a young girl getting involved with drugs by accident and a lot of things happen because of that.
2. Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand
I want to read this book because this also has been recommended to me by some classmates and because a movie is coming out. So it is a story about a man during World War 2 that gets caught with the wrong people in Japan.
